Six authors, six different books.

★★★★★

Nine months of interviews turned into a manuscript I actually recognise as mine. I had tried two other ghostwriters before Penghouse and both handed back something that sounded like a press release.

Marguerite OkonkwoMemoir · Ledger of Small Hours
★★★★★

The developmental letter was fourteen pages and it hurt to read. It was also right about every single thing. Chapter nine had been doing chapter four's job for two years.

David AshworthLiterary fiction · The Salt Between Us
★★★★★

They rejected my favourite cover concept and showed me the click data from the ad test to explain why. That is the first time a vendor has argued with me using evidence.

Priya RaghunathanThriller · Hollow Bone Choir
★★★★★

I came to them with a book that had been out for two years and sold 300 copies. Fixed categories, new description, new cover. Eleven months later it had cleared 9,000.

Tom BrennanBusiness · The Quiet Ledger
★★★★★

The ISBN is registered to my own imprint and every retail account is in my name. Two other companies had told me that was not possible.

Ellen VasquezHistorical fiction · What the River Kept
★★★★★

My illustrator was the third one they showed me, and the moment I saw her portfolio the book made sense. The character sheets alone were worth the fee.

Jonas KellermanChildren's · The Lantern Keepers
02About these reviews

Why we publish the awkward ones too.

Every review here was left after the invoice was settled, which is the only point at which an author has nothing left to gain by being polite.

We do not offer discounts for reviews, and we do not remove critical ones. If a project went badly, that tends to be the most useful thing a prospective author can read — and we would rather you saw it here than found it somewhere else after signing.

Ask us on your first call and we will put you in touch with two or three past authors in your genre, including at least one whose project hit a problem. You should be talking to them without us in the room.
