Book Illustration
Illustration matched to your story, not the other way round.
The right illustrator, shortlisted before anyone draws a page.
The wrong illustrator can be technically excellent and still wrong for your book. We start by shortlisting three artists whose existing portfolios already look like the book in your head, then let you compare a paid sample spread before anyone commits to thirty-two pages.
Everything in the standard scope.
Listed so you can compare us line by line against anyone else you are considering.
- Three illustrator shortlist with real portfolio samples
- Character sheets approved before pages begin
- Storyboard covering the full page turn rhythm
- Full-colour spreads or black-and-white spot art
- Bleed-safe artwork at 300dpi for print
- Two revision rounds per illustration
- Maps, diagrams, and technical figures for non-fiction
- Complete transfer of usage rights to you
The working process, stage by stage.
Style match
You describe the feel and we bring three illustrators whose existing work already lives there. Nobody has to guess.
Characters and storyboard
Character sheets and a full page-turn storyboard are locked before any finished art begins — the cheapest place to change your mind.
Finished art
Illustrations arrive in batches for review, with two revision rounds built into every image.
Print prep
Everything is delivered at print resolution with correct bleed, then checked inside the typeset interior rather than in isolation.
About book illustration.
How much for a 32-page picture book?
Full-colour picture books generally run $3,200 to $9,000 depending on spread complexity and how many characters recur. You get a fixed quote before work starts.
Can I see the illustrator's other books?
Always. We send portfolios and published titles for every artist on your shortlist before you choose.
Do you do AI-generated art?
Not by default. If you want it, we will say so plainly and price it separately — but it complicates copyright registration and several retailers now require disclosure.

You talk, we write. A dedicated ghostwriter builds your book from interviews, notes, or a half-finished draft — in your voice, not ours.
