Scope of work

Every engagement begins with a written scope listing each deliverable and its price. That document, once accepted in writing or by payment of a deposit, is the agreement between us. Work outside it is quoted separately before it begins.

Intellectual property

You retain full copyright in your manuscript at all times. On final payment, all ownership in commissioned deliverables — cover artwork, interior layouts, illustrations, audio masters, website files — transfers to you, including editable source files.

We do not acquire publishing rights, distribution rights, or any share of royalties. We may display finished covers and title names as portfolio work unless you ask us in writing not to.

Payment

Projects are invoiced in stages against delivered work. A deposit is payable before work begins; remaining stages fall due on delivery of the milestones named in your scope. Invoices are payable within 14 days. Work may pause on overdue accounts after written notice.

Revisions and approval

Revision rounds included in your scope are listed there explicitly. Additional rounds are available at our published hourly rate. Where a deliverable requires your approval to proceed, we will hold the schedule until you respond and will tell you what the delay costs downstream.

Author responsibilities

You confirm that the work you send us is yours, that it does not infringe anyone else's rights, and that you have permission for any third-party material it contains. You are responsible for factual accuracy and for any legal review your book may need, including defamation and privacy considerations in memoir.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee sales figures, review counts, retail chart positions, media coverage, or acquisition by a traditional publisher. Any projections we give are estimates based on comparable titles, not commitments.

Cancellation

You may cancel at any time with written notice. You keep every asset produced up to that point, and unstarted work is refunded in full. See our refund policy for how work in progress is treated.

Liability

Our total liability under any engagement is limited to the fees you have paid us for the affected deliverable. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
